Chokeberries are cultivated on organic European farms. They are small, round and dark blue in colour. The skin is covered in fine hairs. Fresh chokeberries tastes sweet and bitter, but bitterness is lost after refrigerating the berries for a few dais. Chokeberries are used to make juice, jam, marmalade or jelly. Chokeberries juice may be used to colour other juices. Dried berries are very valuable. Mixed with boiling water, they make beautiful ruby fruit tea. They are a great replacement for artificial food colouring, and even diluted in a large amount of water the colour is still intense pink.
